アーティスト上杉暁 a.k.a iDeeezの展覧会を開催します。

本展では、MYTH(神話、作り話) とTECH(技術)をテーマに制作した7枚の連作を展示します。

かつて人々は空に広がる星の並びを人や動物に見立てたり、それぞれの神話体系に取り込みストーリーを付与することによって、星空という未知の現象を翻訳し、理解してきた。そういった神話はやがて技術や文化へと姿を変えて我々の住む世界を規範している。 我々の技術が人間の知性を超えた存在を生み出した時、人々はそれをどう理解するのだろうか。

 

This exhibition showcases seven artworks created under the themes of

MYTH (mythology and fiction) and TECH (technology) by Akira Uesugi a.k.a iDeeez.

As unknowable as the starry skies were in the days before a telescope, humanity strived to understand it by incorporating the patterns scattered in the darkness into their mythologies.

Even after the invention of rocket science, these stories define our perception of the world. What new stories will arise when our technologies create objects that transcend human understanding?
